Mark Erwin DC, PhD
With over 18 years of experience in researching spinal disc degeneration, specifically regarding regenerative biology, Dr. W. Mark Erwin is the inventor of Notogen’s advanced regenerative compound. Dr. Erwin has dedicated his career to developing anti-degenerative and regenerative strategies for degenerative disc disease (DDD) through cutting-edge research related to in vitro cellular mechanisms and in vivo functional evaluations. As Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, he has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers concerning the effects of notochordal cells and their secreted products and the ability of these secreted molecules to mediate the progression of DDD in animal models as well as using human disc cells. Dr. Erwin is member of the University of Toronto Department of Surgery Research committee, the research and education committees within the University of Toronto Spine Program and a member of the Section on Biologics with the North American Spine Society. He is also a reviewer for numerous scientific journals and granting agencies. He holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and a PhD from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto.
