Dr. Samartzis is a internationally recognized spine researcher in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has authored over 400 scientific publications and received numerous national and international awards for his contributions to orthopaedics. Active in global leadership, Dr. Samartzis serves as Secretary and Founder/Chair of the Education Committee for the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS), as well as Chair of the Spine Section Board for the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). Dedicated to training the next generation of leaders in medicine, he has mentored dozens of graduate students and surgeon-scientists.
