Del Stagg PhD

Regulatory

Del Stagg has 45 years of experience in medical product development covering medical devices, pharmaceutical and biologic products.  In addition to developing safety and efficacy data and preparing the documentation that is presented to global Ministries of Health such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), health Canada, European Medicines Agency, etc., to support the conduct of clinical studies, he also oversees the preparation of the product marketing applications so the products can be used to improve patient health and quality of life.

Del has worked for large, mid-sized and small companies and was head of regulatory for three companies that had successful IPOs and after approval of their medical products.

In addition to developing and obtaining approval to market medical products, Del is involved in improving the level of knowledge within the regulatory affairs profession.  He co-founded two professional groups that are very active in providing information to regulatory professionals in the communities where he works.  In 1992, he co-founded the North Carolina Regulatory Affairs Forum and in 1993, he co-founded the Orange County Regulatory Affairs (OCRA) discussion group.  Del teaches a post-graduate course in Pharmaceutical Regulations at UCI and serves on their regulatory curriculum committee.

Del received the FDA Commissioner’s Special Citation in 1998 “for outstanding leadership and commitment in furthering FDA’s efforts to provide the consumer and the regulated industry with a more responsive Agency”. 

Del has also served on the Board of Directors, Discovery Science Center (now the Discover Cube Orange County) since 2003.  The Discovery Cube of Orange County is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the future scientists that are needed in all parts of this country.  The Discovery Cube is one of the top five educational outreach programs of any science center / museum in the country.
